With a remarkable portfolio of over 1500 shows to his credit, Dinesh Poddar embarked on his journey in Lighting Design during the 1993-94 period. His illustrious career has seen collaborations with renowned designers from around the world, including luminaries like Christopher Barecca (USA), Franz Havemann (Germany), Stefano Odoardi (Italy), Isabelle Allegari (Switzerland), John D. Anton (USA), Tony Marques (USA), Jon Kushner (USA), Barry Steel (USA), as well as prominent Indian designers such as Tapas Sen, Atul Sonpal, Viraf Pocha, Varinder Wadhawa, Mrs. Bhanu Athaia (Oscar Award Winner for the film Gandhi), Gautam Bhattacharya, and many others.
Dinesh Poddar’s creative brilliance extends across a diverse spectrum, encompassing lighting and set designs for numerous plays, dance performances, dance dramas, and commercial showcases, including fashion extravaganzas, corporate events, product launches, conferences, and star-studded film nights. His talents have shone on international stages in countries like the USA, London, France, Holland, Singapore, Dubai, Doha (Qatar), Sri Lanka, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Spain, Thailand, and South Korea, where he has lent his expertise to countless shows.
His exceptional contributions have been recognized with a plethora of awards, including the prestigious Bharat Nirma Award in 2014, the “Excellence in Stage Light Designing” award for 2013 presented by the Hon’ble Union Cabinet Minister of Culture, Govt. of India, Smt. Chandresh Kumari Katoch, and the “Best Light Designer for the year 2005” accolade from the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs, Govt. of West Bengal, presented by Chief Minister Sri Buddhadeb Bhattachary. Dinesh Poddar’s outstanding achievements also include the “Outstanding Young Person of Calcutta 1998” award, presented by Jaycee.
